New daycare for the kids

Previously I let Chloe attend daycare after kinder, run by the Principal. But the problem is the daycare shut down during school holiday. I have no choice to send Chloe to her brother’s daycare during school holiday. She gets quite emotional when she was at her brother’s daycare. Need time to adapt on the totally different environment.

This year I send Cavin to kinder too. As he no longer attend the previous daycare, so school holiday is a headache to me. I don’t want to throw them like a ball to 2 different daycares. So get myself google to search a quality daycare around the kinder. Glad I able to find one nearby the kinder.

After make a call for some enquires, I pay a visit. I’m quite satisfied with the new daycare’s environment and the teachers. Then start to search for transport too. The kinder recommended a car transporter that charge RM80 per children per way. Not cheap man and full payment even for school holiday except December.

I took a leave on last Thursday to accompany my kids to the daycare. Kinder dismissed on 12.30pm and they reach the daycare around 12.40pm. Then they have their lunch, shower, playtime (No TV. Only 30mins TV on Thursday), nap, snack, homework time. The daycare prepares a plastic drawer to keep the children’s clothes & towel. Now I can keep 1 week clothes supply without have to prepare their clothes even their milk supply everyday in a separate daycare bag. So far both of my kids are happy in their new daycare.

P/S: Next year I’ll send Chloe to another daycare nearby her primary school. Pity her need to change so many daycare. But no choice because both of us are working.

Durian Ice Cream

Believe it or not, I still have a small box of durian in my freezer. Thank a lot for the durian ice cream recipe from Donna and Jess. Finally I made my first time ever ice-cream last weekend. Base on the comment of both of them, the ice cream is rather HARD to scoop using that recipe, so I try modifying myself by adding egg yolk.

Why do you need egg yolks in homemade ice cream?
The basic base for pretty much any ice cream is custard, which is made with egg yolk. The egg yolks have fat in them. The yolks you put in ice cream adds fat and the fat molecules interfere with the water crystals forming which causes a scoopable product.

Phew, the outcome of my durian ice cream is satisfied. It’s creamy and full of durian aroma.

Here is the recipe: -

*This ice-cream recipe uses non-dairy creamer.

Ingredients

50g castor sugar
1 litre full cream milk (UHT milk) or fresh milk
400g non-dairy creamer (coffeemate)
4 egg yolks
400g durian

Method

  1. Remove the seeds from the durian. Use an electric mixer to mix the flesh into a paste and set a side until ready to use.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks with 25g sugar and 400ml milk.
  3. Bring it to saucepan over low to medium-low heat. Constantly stir the mixture with a wire whisk until it thickens and coated (custard).
  4. Low heat the balance 25g sugar and 600ml milk in another saucepan.
  5. Slowly add in the coffeemate and whisk them well until mixture is well blended and the sugar has dissolved.
  6. Medium heat the milk to near boil and reduce the heat to low.
  7. Pour in the custard and mix it well.
  8. Cool the custard, then add a little at a time to the durian paste, combining it thoroughly before adding more custard.
  9. Put in freezer for and whip up the semi-frozen mixture every 1 hour. (Whip it for 3-4 times)
  10. Just before serving, remove the container from the freezer and set aside for five to six minutes to soften slightly so it can be scooped out easily.

Happy Valentine's Day & 8th Anniversary

Today mark our 8th Anniversary of ROM. Glad we have walk together this far.

We never plan for any special date for our registration. Still can recall, when we walked into the JPA and asked to reserve a date, the clerk tell us 14th of February is still available. What a nice date to remember and both of us agreed on the spot for this date.

♥ Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends

2012 Dragon New Year Celebration Part 1

As usual BIL and family will come over my house for reunion dinner. This year make some different is because I'm the chef in charge that night. Although I in charge for the whole dinner but MIL do came in “kacau-ing” me. SIL do came early to give me a hand.

(I forgot to snap my steamed fish & abalone chicken soup)

On the 1st day of CNY, I already went back my mom house. We used to go back on Day 2, because my mom gonna work on that day so we went back early. Then we visit all my uncles and aunties.

Day 2, we stayed and relaxed at home, because poor Cavin had fever.

Day 3, we went to nearby temple, prayed for good fortune for the New Year. Evening, we proceed to FGS  Dong Zen Temple located at Jenjarom. Due to plenty of photos, I’ll blog it out on the next post. *to be continued.

My Mr. Right birthday

Today is my Mr. Right's Big Day. Wishing him a Happy Birthday! Hope he has a fabulous year that filled with happiness, health and success.

As my hubby's birthday fall on weekday, so we have early celebration yesterday at Korean House, SS2. This restaurant has been long recommended by my friend for their reasonable price. This is the first time I dine in. They do have cheap set lunch and set dinner during weekday.

The birthday man

Cavin

Chloe

Cold tea for refreshment

Kimchi and variety of appetizers

Seaweed soup (Korea tradition soup, a must during birthday)

Hot stone rice. Luckily I able to remove the chili sauce b4 the waitress mix it for the children.

Pan Jun aka Korean pan cakes.

We have order BBQ set of pork and chicken too. The waitress is kind enough to help us BBQ it at outdoor, else we were surely smelly from top to toes. The BBQ pork taste better as the meat is tender and juicy while chicken texture are too hard. Totally forgot to snap photo of it because I'm busy eating loh. *laugh

We total spend RM150++ for 3 adults and 2 children. The owner waived away the 5% government tax.
