My company has low workload since 6 months ago. Thus I’m
quite free in office everyday.
Last week my boss made an announcement that starting from
November till December 2011, company will has 4 working days in a week. Meaning
the office will close on Friday. Our salary is still maintained. If next year the
workloads still less, we might continue this until further notice.
Some colleagues did feel happy to have extra 1 day leave. But
I don’t have the excitement, maybe I feel very unsecured although boss said that company financial still strong. Sometime low workload makes me feel
unproductive, I still prefer to work. *laugh
Hopefully after the election, slow market can turn better and the business of the company can improve.
You must be a workaholic then ;) I'll be very happy if I were you! Your boss is very, very kind to maintain the staff's salary.

Perhaps you can think of ways to make the office better... think of ways to be more effective or do some tidying up or etc. Also can think "out of the box" for new businesses to come in too.
ReplyDeleteCutting down the number of working days is always a bad sign of things to come...and no matter how financially strong a company is, at the end of the day, it's the bottom line that counts....anyway..enjoy it while you can but be cautious and be on the look out ...my 2 cents worth of thought ....
